Slide Launches Branded Photo Apps

Photo presentation site Slide has signed some major advertisers as it rolls out branded widgets, reports ClickZ.

The move comes after Slide decided it had reached significant usage levels to support the ads.
Paramount Pictures, Activision, Lions Gate and others have all created branded widgets that Slide users can embed on blogs or social network profiles. AT&T is using the widgets to let people add cellphones to their pictures. Paramount will use them to promote its upcoming flick Bee Movie.

Promo spots within slideshows using the widgets are also available. An icon with the slideshow using Lionsgate's Bratz-branded widget triggers the movie's trailer to appear.

Slide says it spent nothing and did nothing to promote the widgets, relying solely on users adopting them on their own.

Interestingly, Slide sees widget use as an endorsement by the user of the advertiser.
